Hi

I came up with a strategy and plan for when I returned to work. Have your employers given you a phased return with altered hours for a period of time, if not I would see if this would be possible. I had a standard response for if people asked me if I was ok, as I wasnt and didn't want to break down in tears in the office. My best advise would be to take one day at a time :-)

Hi

You say you are due to go back to work next week, is that your wish or are you going back because you are pressurised into doing so? If it was your idea then presumably you felt ready to go back and may now just be feeling anxiety about whether you will cope though probably you will as the idea of things is often much worse than the reality.

If you are being pressured into going back what does your GP say? Is there any way you can got back part time for a while in order to phase in gently as you have been off for a while and it will be hard to go straight back into full time if you don't feel ready.

Either way, be gentle on yourself. Organise things so you eat proper breakfasts and lunches as that way hunger won't trigger the low feelings, also have healthy snacks available so if your blood sugar drops you have something to lift it until the next break. Have a nice warm bath or shower each evening and early nights for a while if that's realistic, also try to build into your routine seeing a friend or something you enjoy each week, maybe on a Friday night when you will be ready for a change. Also use this website for support each day!

I hope it goes well for you,

Suex

Well if there is a plus side to having to go to work for a living, I'd say it's meeting loads of new people & obviously having extra cash..Now if i start a new job i always get a bit nervous, i always did & probably always will..So it's obviously fine to be a bit nervous, & i bet you was a bit nervous before you started your last job, but i bet everything went well after you got to know the other people there..The World Cup is starting soon so everyone at your new place will be talking about it, so get genned up on that & your'l have plenty to talk about..So are you nervous or are you excited, & if your not excited why not?..Iv'e met loads of good people & good friends over the years, that i would never have met unless i had started that new job....A lot of things run through our minds when we start a new job, but we should realize we don't have any evidence on which to base our nervousness..Also your new job could be the best thing you've ever done, but you won't know that until you start it..Iv'e actually had a couple of new jobs in the past where i couldn't wait to go back the next day, but i was really nervous beforehand..So it might just be great for you you never know, so try not to think about it too much in the meantime.
