What is donut type swelling in foreskin in partial circumcision. Will it go away by itself. It looks so ugly.

Hello! Unfortunately with any type of cut in circumcision, it's always going to look ugly for the first month. The donut swelling is extremely common and will reduce within a month or two and after that things will look great!

Heya - hope your son is doing okay. The donut swelling with any type of circumcision is perfectly normal. I'm over 3 months healed now and definitely experienced that type of swelling above and below the wound line until around weeks 6-8. As the other commenter mentioned, a circumcision is always going to look at its worst in the first couple of months and slowly resolve over time. It's a very vascular (blood-filled) and sensitive area of the body that will naturally swell to protect the healing tissue and stitches underneath the skin.

That occurs on the mucosa from the trauma. It takes time to subside.

Donut swelling is most likely to occur (and to take longer to resolve) when one is only given a partial circumcision. Why any doctor gives, and any patient accepts, a job only part done I really can't understand!
