Tiredness does take a while to work its way out of your system. The key is to rest, take that nap when your body demands it. Sleep is a great healer. Most of all don't overstretch yourself. Many people it seems try to do things far too quickly and end up worse than when they started out. You must take your time, your body will tell you what you can and cant do.

Many people it seems do suffer with some emotional problems because of the illness and I can certainly vouch for that. I became so moody and had the most rollercoaster of a ride with peaks and troughs of depression. I don't know how anyone worked with me during this time, the good days were really good and the bad ones well you know exactly what I mean. These do dissipate in time but you have to work at it. I was lucky enough to work my way out of the "great depression" without the help of any medication. How did I manage well I had to take a good look at my inner self and asked the question what do I want out of life and strove myself to a positive attitude to my well being.

That started the good days, okay they were always bad ones there always will be, but I concentrated on the good ones and that makes such a difference. Hang on in there you will get better its been just over 18 months since my brush with viral meningitis and still here.

Don't forget read the blogs, we have all gone through it and there's always the help line should you need it. Think positive, enjoy the good days, discount the bad ones, praise yourself for all the little victories you make and you will get through this.

Having spent 3 months in hospital with pnuenmococal meningitis + other nasties I had to use a wheel chair.

However, don't give up just keep trying to do all you did before. It is a struggle but well worth it. After 2 years I'm getting beck to normal. Haven't swum a mile yet but can manage half!!! Just rest when you need to.

tiredness is part of the after illness, i had to take B6 and Vit c, this helped a lot, also had to change my diet, lots pf greens YUKKKKKKKKKKK ...anti depressants will make you very tired, so be careful about taking them to long, but like all illness, you have to give your body and mind time to heal, try not to push to much, as this will make you depressed, take each day as it come, trust me hon it will get better!!!!!!!!!, at the moment you are in a place where you think it will not, but it will

It has been a little over 6 weeks since I got viral meningitis for the 2nd time. I still have a slight headache from time to time and some problems with my memory so I can't really say I feel bad, I just have no energy. It's very frustrating when I don't feel bad but just can't make myself do anything. When I do have a good day, I think I over do it. I think it is hard for others to understand how this illness affects us. I know my family does but I'm not sure my co-workers do. I've always worked full time but I have cut back to about 20 hours a week for now. I'm so thankful I found this site. Thank you all for your posts.
