Hello, at the beginning of the year I had bacterial,& viral meningitis. I'm slowly recovering but now they say I need a shunt put in my brain to drain the build up of fluid on my brain. And to think I was rocking the recovery thing. Anyone have a shunt, & what was the recovery time like or what is it like having one? Help, I'm a little freaked out. Thanks!

Brain shunt anyone?
Good morning
I had a shunt fitted when I was a baby, then had it replaced when I was about 7, its nothing to worry about, I had a Catherine wheel type shunt fitted when I was 7, it was so it could grow with me as I grew up, I am now 46 and the only time I’ve been back in hospital is at the end 2021 after a fall I had at work in the Aug and it had dislodged but took until Christmas 2021, I spent 9 and a half weeks in hospital and decided there wasn’t enough awareness out there and so created a group on Facebook to help others in the same situation, I then went back into hospital 4 days before Christmas last year to have a shunt revision and spent 48 hours in hospital then,I did ask if it could happen again and was told it’s possible, but on the whole you’ll be fine.
