Anyone Had Cryptococcal FUNGAL meningitis?
Hello,My daughter had bacterial meningitis and doctors never found from which bacteria because she was immidiately treated with strong antibiotics. Thus, i am not aware of cryptococcal meningitis. However, meningitis of whatever bacteria is a terrible disease. Have stength for your daughter because she might have to fight for a lot, after she gets fully recovered from it... My prayers go out to you..
Thank You, fungal meningitis is very rare and it is terrible. I hope your daughter is recovering well. Does she have any long term injuries from it? Our daughter has lost her eye sight along with a lot of other things. She was just recently transferred to an inpatient acute rehab.
I am so sorry to hear that.. Kids however are very strong and adjust to new situations better than us, adults. I hope you and your child find ways of overcoming the barriers that meningitis has caused to her. In time i wish her happiness and lots of smiles, like my five year old daughter who suffered this at 40 days old...
I got fungal meningitis last year, not cryptococcus but aspergillus. I was hospitalised for a total of about 5 months over the last year and a half, and the condition now seems to be held in check by anti-fungals. I have had issues with balance and limb strength, but still hope that these are temporary issues rather than permanent ones. I don't currently have any issues with eyesight, but have done intermittently, mostly having difficulty focusing both eyes on the same object.
