I've been on my journey to wellness for nearly 5 years now. I'm pleased to say that I'm full back to my energetic levels, perhaps more energy than before.
I've entered a 10km run for charity and I have been really training well. I will do this challenge this weekend.
I'm so excited because after my meningitis I had chronic fatigue. It took a long while until I could walk my dog again, slowly I got back into a routine.
I did loose my businesses and my partime work. I had to let go.
I decided to get better naturally and holistically, eating healthy immune boosting diet, meditation, mindfulness and I've changed my whole career in the process.
I found a technique that helped regain balance in my energy and I visualised running over the finish line at my local park run of 5km, I've done that 6 times already this year.
I'm not sharing this to impress you but to impress upon you the idea that you will do it too.
I had to take each day as it came and celebrate the tiny wins.
I'm my new career I have become a professional hypnotherapist and life coach.
I help people get the balance back in there life so they too can move forward. I've worked through the pain, frustration and depression, I've learned to listen to my body, listen and let go. I've learned to say no and become focused on myself care first. I have so much gratitude for what happened because it has changed my life for the better. I really cherish each day, and every evening I say or write all that I am grateful for.
I wanted to share this because I know how it feels, not to know how long and if you will get better. For you to know this is temporary and it doesn't have to define you, you don't have to own it. It will end and you will be able to look back and join up the dots of how you overcome this too.
I'm 45 mother of 2 girls and my dog lola.
I'm in the grey top after recently completing a local park run of 5km
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Well done and thanks for the inspiring response. I’m very involved in Parkrun. When I had my attack, it wasn’t long after my 50th. A group I’m involved with is now a proper Club. We have had over 500 that we have trained from scratch to do a PR. Some have gone on to do a Marathon. I’ve been told I won’t walk again, so I’ve got a long way to go. I’ve suffered a real setback which is why I’m back in hospital. Just hope the doctors can successfully treat my neurological condition. Enjoy your recovery, I hope I can join you soon.
Keep that word 'hope' in the forefront of your mind, visualise yourself there again like it's happened already and connect with those feelings at least once a day.
Do this Everyday and it will get you closer and closer. Its great to read inspiration stories because you keep motivated in your mind to move forward. I found this invaluable to do during my recovery, we are all unique and we all have a different journey to wellness. You will get there in your time xx I'm wishing all the best and sending you many positive vibes, keep moving forward because you are amazing to get this far xx
This gives hope!!! So inspiring! im almost in year 5 and still very fatique but getting there. Going to the gym now and back to work for 15 hours. My fatique and immune system are just far off still from what it was. i think i can do more with my diet. I am trying intermittend fasting now... I am very curious about the diet etc. Could i get in touxh with you?
Well done you are doing amazing. This is one of the most life challenging and life changing things ever.
I cant advise you of what to do but I can certainly share what has worked for me.
I certainly did eat clean healthy food, loads of fruits and veggies, I did go vegetarian for almost a year. (I went off meat from 1 day to other).
I drank smoothie every morning with bananas, blueberries, honey, peanut butter, spinich, coconut milk.
I took omega 3 oil caps, vit c, vit d. Drank alot of water. I didn't drink alcohol at all.
I did rest when I needed. You know because your head goes fuzzy and body felt like scrunched up paper.
I didn't do any exercise just minimal walking, but chair yoga was good. I know it's been important to listen to body and not over do it, this is probably why I got there in the first place, being kind to yourself definitely been a learning curve.
It's not easy but now I look back I can see the dots joining together. I've also done alot of head work. Learning about mindfulness and writing gratitude lists.
This is so nice to hear really gives hope because im doing almost everything you are talking about. im doing much better so started to work out a bit more. But before this it was only walking walking walking used to sleep/rest / do mediation after every activity or just during being up. And clean eating i did before i got sick so no huge adjustments but i will look in to immune boosting diet. Thanks so much for your response!
Thank you for giving me hope! It's been exactly two years since I got sick. Then a year ago I had a relapse which appears to have been provoked by mold exposure in my house. Lots of body pains and fatigue. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, but some of the fatigue turned out to be from gastric problems/a small hiatal hernia. I saw a chiropractor and an osteopath for that and started taking HCI betaine and digestive enzymes. (If anyone suspects a similar problem, please read up on this and see an top-notch practitioner.)
I am about 70% better than when I was at my worst, but my son and I had to move out of my house and I had to move in with my parents. I also lost my job and had to take a leave from my graduate studies.
What technique gave you energy and balance please? Thanks.
