Hey everyone

I’m very grateful for this chance to be able to talk to other people with similar cases who would understand how I feel. It’s very consoling to read your posts and know I’m not alone..

Ive had non stop headaches for a month and a half now. Stiffness in my neck, numbness in my face, ears, hands and feet, pain in my ears, inflammation in lymph nodes, weakness in my body in general..

I couldn’t stand light or noise, extreme sensitivity to both..

Very high ESR and C-reactive protein

My head kills me when I try to sleep, when my head is on the pillow..

I’ve seen many doctors, and got diagnosed with Viral Meningitis. However the doctor is also suspecting that what’s causing the inflammation in my brain could be Lyme Disease, I was in Mexico 1 month before the headaches start..

I’m very confused.. we are still talking about scenario A and scenario B.. he said I will either start feeling better gradually, recovering from the viral infection (scenario A), or my body will start responding to the antibiotics I’m taking for the possibility of having the Lyme disease (scenario B)

I felt better for a few days then the headache started kicking severely again the past 2 days.. with nausea and pain in my joints, moving my eyes causes a lot of pain.. and I couldn’t get out of bed..

I tired to go to work today after being in bed for 1 month but facing the screen wasn’t very pleasant of course..

I really miss my normal lifestyle, I’m bored of being in bed and I’m worried and I feel like even family and friends are getting bored of the topic and don’t quite understand how I feel exactly..

Is it normal to feel better for a few days then get worse?

How long should I expect this to go on? What can I do to help my body recover faster?

Sorry for the long post.. hoping to hear back from you soon..

I haven’t had the exact same symptoms as you. I had the headaches, and sensitivity to light and noise but I had vomiting and constant dizziness. I was in bed for six months. I was told I had VM in Nov ‘17. Laying on my left hand side with my eyes closed was the only relief I got so spent almost 6 months sleeping. Then I found stumbled across this forum and felt like you. Others are out there!! Someone recommended cranial osteopathy and acupuncture. I tried it and I’m pretty much fixed!! I would urge everyone with post VM symptoms to try it. I really noticed a difference on week 4 when he introduced the acupuncture. I woke up the following morning and the room wasn’t spinning!

I can not recommend highly enough that you find s cranial osteopath who does acupuncture and give it a try. If you can’t find one, try acupuncture alone. That’s what seemed to have cured me!

Good luck. Let me know how you get on.

Hi,

My symptoms were the same as yours and since I was diagnosed by the lumbar puncture end of Nov ‘17. It’s only in the last 2 weeks that I’m having far more good days than painful/weak days in bed.

When I overdo it/not sleep well/get a cold, then I would be in bed a week.

Things that helped me rest, getting good sleep, eating good nutritious food, drinking minimum 2l water, light excercise and giving myself time to recover and not put myself under pressure.

Take care of yourself!
