The TB infection can be treated and in time will resolve but I think you have take take the medications consistently for a year or more. Whether you will be left with any longer term problems from the Meningitis will depend on how seriously ill you have been, how quickly treatment was started etc

Hi. It can be survived, I had it in 2001 and am still here. It does take a long time to recover from and she may have problems with memory afterwards as well as other longer lasting issues. In my case, I look and seem the same but I have been left wth retrograde amnesia now and find noise and stress hard to handle. You will need patience. TBM is a very serious illness. If anyone offers you help and support, grab it. All the very best to both of you.

It's scary, but can be survived. I had meningitis in 2011 and tb before that. The tb infection is cured with medicine taken every day, and supported with blood and urine testing every other month for a year or so, at least that's what they did in 1984. The meningitis is a toss up for what the after effects will be. I have migraines constantly and fatigue and also adult add, which I was a type A organized person before getting sick. Now, I'm learning about add treatment and executive skills training, like how to get places on time, decision making, and priority making. It's been a hard road to get here. There were some really low points and also some good places too. It's life and just bc your friend has been sick doesn't mean life and all its complexities stops since there's now this huge thing to get through. It is what it is.
