Financial assessment for daughter in supported living

Hello, my daughter has recently moved into supported living and we have a financial assessment from the council to determine how much she has to pay. Do the council take into consideration social activities and taxis or public transport to get to the activities? Thank you, Kate

Hi there are some great carer organisations that can help such as Bringing us together or if you are in Hertfordshire use supporting together coop. There is also social care warriors and Inclusion London. This is a tricky area so I would get as much advice as possible. There is also CASCAIDR. Good luck.

The local authority should consider expenses for fees your daughter incurs whilst attending social activities.

In regard to travel expenses, your local authority may wish you to declare expenses that are above the amount your daughter receives from the DWP for mobility allowance, assuming that she receives PIP.

Best wishes
