Suitable Agency

My son is autistic, has learning difficulties, ADHD and when anxious can display challenging behaviours.

He has 2 carers who are very good however the agency they work for are not suitably qualified when my son displays challenging behaviour. Their response is restrain and restrict. He has a PBS plan but they refer to their own care plan. I have tried to address this but have now decided to change agency. My sons 2 carers are very happy to stay with my son and change employer.

I am looking for a suitably qualified agency that the care staff can rely on for expert support when needed such as OT, Behaviour specialists/ Psychology.

We live in Hampshire

we used to use Fairways outreach. My son is an adult with some severe challenging behaviours and the support staff he has were brilliant and not fazed. Two particular SW’s that we used were fabulous. We are Southampton.

When we were first starting out to find support staff for our 2 sons, the social worker gave us a list of suitable agencies to approach. At first we felt incredibly daunted by the prospect, but the SW was able to suggest which 3 were most suitable for our sons' needs and sat in on our interview process with the local managers to help narrow down the choices. Initially we appointed 2 agencies but it quickly became apparent that only 1 of them would work for us and we've now been using them for about 15 years, mostly successfully. Good luck!
