I have 25 year old son with mild autism and LD who I thought may have been able to live on own , with support . But now feel he needs 24 hour supervision with some degree of independence. I live in Scotland and am looking for options. Thank you

you need to speak to adult social services so he can be assessed and then determine what care needs he has and then they can tell you what provision he needs and they will have a book of places for you to go and see and choose. My only advice is make sure it’s local so you can pop in and not always announced so you can see what’s going on and either get an LPA or a deputyship and this will depend on your sons Mencap capacity which one you will be able to apply for. Your can apply on the gov.uk website as going through a solicitor costs a fortune.

Hi there, I would recommend reaching out to Mencap’s Learning Disability Helpline at 0808 808 1111 or email helpline@mencap.org.uk as they will be able to give you some support and guidance on this. Wishing you and your son the best of luck :)
