Advice on paying for care

Hello, my daughter has recently been assessed by the financial team at Hampshire county council and has to pay the maximum contribution for care of £96. She only has 7 hours of care one week and 14 hours of care another week so she paying a large percentage of it. I am looking for advice on whether it would be better for her to have direct payments and have more control over what she is paying for. Thank you for any advice you can give me, Kate

To decide that you’d need to know how much she would get in direct payments. It’s impossible to answer otherwise.

I think it’s individual councils right to charge how they see fit. I’m my county it doesn’t matter how much care or hours you use they calculate the persons income and assets and then decide how much they have to contribute. Therefore wouldn’t matter whether it was a care package or direct payments. We pay maximum contribution despite my sons only income is benefits and no assets. You would be best to find out your counties criteria for contribution first x
