Deputyship - again!!

Joesmumlovesyoga profile image

Hi all,

Wading through the info for applying for deputyships (and hefty quote from a solicitor to do), I came across a company that advertises services to help with the form filling and general process of moving through the COP. Just wondering if anybody has used these, or similar before? Looking for both health and finance Deputyship

hi there. I did this all myself. I had no problems at all. Others experiences may vary but it is essentially form filling and you would have to supply all the information to a third party any way in order for them to fill in the form! . There is lots of advice in the office of the public guardian website

Thanks Eeviee - that makes me feel a lot better - did you apply for both health and finance? If so, how long did it take please?

Seems to be almost as expensive as a solicitor. I was quoted around £1200 but that included the fees that have to be paid to the Court in order to apply.

You can apply for a reduction in the Court Fees if the person you are applying for is on a low income. It is also legitimate to use their money to pay for the application.

As Eeviee says the forms aren’t that complex. Perhaps you could fill them in and then get a solicitor to check them for you rather than them doing the whole job. Some of the information is just contact information so that is easy and straightforward.
