managing independent life.
many can with the right support and input, it depends on lots of different things but it’s possible.
As mum to a young woman with significant learning difficulties I know that some of our children will never be able to look after themselves, they will always be dependent on others to support them and do for them the things they cannot manage. It is difficult as a parent, as you worry about what will happen to them when you are gone, but it is a fact of life. All we can do is support them to be as (safely) independent as they can be, and ensure that they have the right support from other family members and external agencies so they can live fulfilled lives, be happy and safe.
