The short answer to both questions is no.
Having a learning difficulty does not make you less of a person and nor does a mild learning difficulty make you a poor parent.
What others think is less important than how you understand yourself as far as WHO you are as a person.
What others think about the possibility of being a poor parent MAY be best understood in the context of support to be a GREAT parent.
Parental skills are learned skills - but they are easily acquired for the basics of feeding, bathing and clothing.
My mother in law had a mild learning disability and she had three daughters - all of whom went on to have their own children. I married one of them and we have a severely learning disabled son - not an inherited condition. My wife was exceptional when our lad was born. She really did come to the fore in her care of our son. I guess she learned some of that from her mother! Right?
Others can raise questions - but settle your doubts based on your own willingness to learn from other mums and from the health services when birthing time comes.
Until then remember that you are NOT less of a person because you have a mild learning difficulty. You may just have to try harder to do some things and will almost certainly excel in others. Take care.
