Support for my daughter whilst living with parents - Mencap
Support for my daughter whilst living with parents
speak to the carers association and see what help they can give you, ask adult social services mencap helpline. You obviously looking to employ Personal assistants for your daughter do a local search as there should be an organisation that works with the adult social services who help you with employment and payroll etc. good luck
Hi Trixcey, ask your social services to request a "Direct Payment"
Decide how many days a week and for how many hours per day you want then you use a payrol service to advertise for staff who you then interview yourself to find the most compatible to your Daughter. The payrol service then will draw up contracts and manage salaries for you. Where I live my county uses The Rowan organisation as payrol service.
My Daughter has 24/7 carers in her own home via a direct payment. Your Daughter will however have to make a contribution towards the cost. If you want more info I can private mssg you.
when my son was at home we had 2:1 support 3 or 4 days a week . They used to take him to the cinema, crazy golf, various farms etc.
I asked for them to arrange the support and pay the agency as I just didn’t want the added admin involved with direct payments.
She will need to have an assessment of her and your needs done by a social worker. Get in touch with adult social care in your local authority to request an assessment. Once an assessment is done they will offer direct payments to help pay for a support worker/PA to support your daughter to do the things your daughter would like to do. They will explain and support you in how this works.
My daughter is also 31 and has learning disabilities. She also lives at home with us. She loves the sessions that are run by Inclusive Online Activities - they are enriching and help build her confidence. She also considers those attending are her friends.
