Hi,I am new to this group but need some advice. My daughter has lived in supported living for over 16 years. When she first moved out she had a very supportive named social worker,I was always involvedin any decision making as my daughter lacks capacity and I have always been her main advocate. A year or so before covid she lost her named social worker and now social workers are only involved if there is a safeguarding raised. Since covid especially there has been a distinct shift in her care where the care company seem to have control they change things without consultation and I have even been told they don't have to listen to me just because I am her mum. If I challenge any aspect of care it usually results in a worse outcome for my daughter.

Right I would call court of protection I would apply for urgent deputyships for her finances and her health and get an Independent mencap capacity advocate. I also had to get a consultant social worker involved in the end with all my issues I was having with the care home he had been sent to. With a deputyship you become her voice and these are legal documents they can’t ignore. As it’s for your daughter you can use her funds and also have you looked into why she’s not getting continuing healthcare do check it out. Good luck I’ve walked in your shoes it’s really tough. Also if your not registered with the carers association do that AS WELL they can be extremely helpful.
