my son lives in a care home. He has full time 24/7 carer support has had several meltdowns and 2 yrs ago caused 3k worth of damages to care home security doors and the court ordered him to pay a nominal amount towards the costs for damage and he was bound over for a year.
Recently during an incident he punched a light switch and a staff members glasses were broken. Now've been invoiced for repair and replacement. Is a resident subject to DOLs and lacking fiscal capacity lable or should it be an employers insurance liability claim ? I don't know if it occurred as result of restraining him or if son purposely hit out?with questionable capacity to be accountable is he responsible?

Hi I’m just wondering if it would be worth speaking to the cAre quality commission regarding this situation or even your M.P. I’m also wondering if your son needs an Incapacity mental health advocate who can be there to represent your son and support you. Check out locally who provide this service and speak to them and see if they can support your son and help you as well. Are you registered with the careers association if not you really should consider it as they are excellent and will be able to offer you a lot of help information and support also. Good luck
