Question on the Universal Credit form

Hello! I'm just filling in the UC form for my daughter and I'm not sure about one of the questions--its- Do you get financial support from your parents, a guardian or other supporting adult? I was wondering if it goes against the application if I say yes to this? My daughter is receiving PIP at the moment but we sometimes pay for stuff for her?

Thanks for any advice :)

I can’t remember what I wrote there. It makes no sense really because before my son got UC we paid for everything as pip didn’t cover it and he was a child still a child. I’d probably write no there, buying her stuff isn’t financial assistance.

Hi Violet, definitely answer “no”. As others have said, we often end up paying for every day items because PIP doesn’t cover all our kids’ needs. We’ve just come through the UC application process and were in the same position as you. We answered “no” without any issue. Good luck!

If you answer yes they will possibly take the amount you give her away from her UC as it is unearned income.
