How do I find somewhere suitable to live

My granddaughter has to move out of the house she lives in as it is connected to her former care agency who cannot support her anymore. She has been refused a placement with extra care housing and so I would like some help with finding her a new house to live in. I don't know where to start.

The social worker would need to access her needs as to what provision she requires they can then give you a booklet or you can look online to see what’s out there and where there is availability. My only advice is choose local if possible to you can pop in And she can visit and you can keep a much closer eye on things if you know what I mean.

Yes Thankyou Jofisher her social worker is on the case and we are going for direct payments as care agencies don't seem to work for her. It's just finding somewhere for her to live that's the problem

Try the charity commission website and social workers have a booklet of places so that should help you.

Hi sorry to hear that, if Social Worker isn't much help then phone your local Council, tell them the situation & that your Daughter is no longer able to stay in current accommodation and why. They will be able to give you direction & probably get you to Register her for Housing under them. Here we have just Registered onto Homechoice good luck. She may come under due to be Homeless if you have an End Date for current accommodation. Citizens Advice Bureau also very helpful.

Phone all the housing associations local to you and "PLEAD" I did and got my daughter a 2 bed flat in the same Rd as her family home. Only problem is finding good staff, good ones are few and far between. Been doing this for 12 years now, mostly doing most of the shifts myself.
