Hi, I really need some help please

My brother is 33 has learning difficulties ,autism , depression amd possibly personality disorder. He has been living with my elderly dad. Dad can’t cope anymore and needs him to move out. We have no idea how to find out about benefits for housing etc. he can’t hold down a job because of his problems and when he works it is part time minimum wage.

Does anyone know where I can go for help?

Thank you so much

You need to go to social services and also the carers association they can give you lots of support advice and help.

Your local County Council (Social Services) is a good start - there will usually be an Adult Learning Disability Team. You would need to ask for a Needs Assessment to be undertaken under the Care Act for your brother - you and/or your dad would be able to advocate for him. If your brother already has a diagnosis of LD that's good news - if not you would need to go through your brother's GP to get a referral for an assessment. Good luck!
