I’m wondering if my daughter can get benefit in addition to her pip. She is 18 and in full time course at college but it is further education , not higher Ed. I’m finding it difficult to establish through things like turn2us I think because usually she would have finished the further Ed before she was 18.
Anyone in same situation?

theres a few people on here who are absolutely amazing with knowing info like this,but i think your best bet woud be to contact the learning disability line tomorow morning or citizens advice for a meeting.
My son was in full time education until 23 and he was able to claim Employment Support Allowance (ESA). He also has PIP. Depending on the area you live it might have moved over to universal credit. Have a look on gov.uk for info.
My son is 22, in a full time college course and he gets UC. I believe child benefit can be paid up until 21 if in full time education but you can’t claim both.
Hi my young person went into college at 18 she claimed universal credit in her own right child benefit and tax credits then end if she gets U C which she will mine is still in college and still gets it and pip

(sorry, jumping in) - nope - it is her application as an individual, eligibility is based on her income and savings.
My son has just (on Monday!) started college (and yes - further not higher makes a difference!), and I'm in the middle of claiming universal credit for him. I think pretty much everywhere has switched to universal credit now? Child benefit and child tax credit end when they go to college even if it is further not higher. For UC you apply online (are you the appointee?), and actually so far it's been pretty straightforward. If you Google "apply for universal credit" you should find the website - here's the link, don't know if it will work - universal-credit.service.go... back pay universal credit up to a month before you applied as long as you were eligible, and being in receipt of UC also means she would qualify for free college meals.
Worth keeping in mind it would count as her applying in her own name, so savings, income etc on all the questions is hers, not yours or total household income.

How ok’d is your son?
He is 19, and will be 20 in a couple of weeks. Where we live most young people with ehcps stay in special schools until the end of the school year during which they turn 19, so he finished school this summer and is just starting at college.
Once it gets sorted he'll get universal credit single person under 25 rate, plus whatever they call the universal credit disability element, which is the same amount as income related ESA. I imagine your daughter will probably get the same.
Hi my son who turned 20 years old in 2020 he claimed UC and he also was getting PIP and going to college full time, before that I used to claim child tax credits for him and PIP but that stopped when he turned 20 years old. Does your daughter have EHCP usually with that they can carry on studying until they are 25years old and claim UC and PIP. We went to citizen Advice first and then applied.

I am not sure what to apply for my son is just turning 20 so now lost tax credit for him.
He’s still going pip but some people say apply for u/ credit ( but my thoughts were this was better if you worked ?)and some say ESA ?
It’s so much harder has they become adults
He’s in full time education and not ready for employment at all
