Help “is” available!

How to help your child be successful with behaviour? Where to start? How can you as a parent help?

Difficult or challenging behaviour can mean different things to different people

What is important is, that behaviours being displayed; including ignoring or refusing to follow requests, hurting others or using excessive anger are all forms of behaviour, which requires support

This video confirms that support “is” available and shares how “you” as a parent, cater or professional can look beneath the surface of your child’s behaviour and see “what” your child is trying to tell you! Exploring the causes, triggers and “how” you can begin to help your child manage behaviour in a positive way!

This video also shares an exciting tool from my special guest; Nikki, from Behaviour Balls, promoting positive behaviour

I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve gotten older (36 now) and I’ve always been labelled with severe challenging behavior o top off LD and non verbal classic autism, but what they didn’t seem to connect it to was my lack of communication,it was only as I turned into adult age I was funded an AAC device,PECS,taught makaton etc,as a child I was assumed to never be able to communicate plus my family were not given any support with me.

I believe having so much of my thoughts locked in,and people trying to force basic interaction on me made me “kick off” as the old term was.

horse riding therapy (not general horse riding) and having pets were the next massive things that have cut down on the agitation and feelings that trigger my behaviors that challenge others.

Making a sensory area in my lounge has hugely helped to.

and medications-I’m on daily diazepam and an anti psychotic I can’t remember the name of- to help me have a better quality of life without my behaviors,I am on three epileptic medications forcmy epilepsy that also work on behaviors to.

Mucking out stables at my RDA riding school used to help me when I was younger as there is an order to how you muck out and it feels comforting going through those orders, and it wears you out at the end,but I can’t do that any longer as my spine was injured six years ago through bad restraint.
