Hi there! My name is Stephanie, and I am new to the community. I'm not sure what to expect to gain in my involvement within this group, but I"m hoping to become educated on the issues that my daughter struggles with, as well as getting the emotional support I need in helping her to cope and grow into who she was created to be. Below is information pertaining to my children and their struggles, or lack there of. I hope to get to know y'all and to get some guidance on how to interact with my children.

I am a mother to two beautiful, special/unique children. My son just turned 18 and completed High School with a GPA of 3.89...He is very strong in his academics and he is socially expressive and quite popular among his peers. He is now working a summer job and will enter into a local community college where he lives.
My daughter is 7 and is in 2nd grade. She is a very kind/compassionate and loving child, but she has struggled since infancy with both physical delays, specifically fine and gross motor delays/impairments. She has also struggled to meet her age appropriate milestones. She is reserved and typically sticks to herself, except when she gets to know someone. Even when she begins to be social with those that she gets to know, she is significantly socially awkward. She is receiving treatment/services in the following areas: Occupational Therapy to service her fine motor and sensory processing delays/impairments. She is in Physical Therapy services to address her gross motor delays/impairments. She attends Speech and Language Therapy to help treat her with her speech and language delays/impairments. She has been in trauma treatment to help her to process the trauma she endured at age 3-4, due to being separated from her mom, and some things happened to her while separated. In addition to all of these treatments, she has been diagnosed with a specific learning disorder (dyslexia), ADHD, and Reactive Attachment Disorder. Lastly, she is being evaluated for Autism Spectrum Disorder and may be enrolled in Applied Behavior Analysis therapies.
