Introduction : My name is Deborah Green , I work as a... - Mencap
Introduction
I have son with autism, low functioning and nonverbal - luckily he goes to college which is autism specialised and takes care of his learning disabilities - extra care with communication - pictures and photo and sign language - Makaton and such like. He lives in supported living with 2-4 carers/key workers. Normally phone to find out how he is and see through the window every Sunday - isolation/quarantine.
That must be hard for you, how did he cope with moving into indecent living as I am frightened at the same time excited as this will do my son the world of good
My son moved into supported living and received 24 hour care and because he was receiving so much attention settled down and began enjoying learning and activities and actually started letter tracing after much colouring in. He no longer wants to go out to the shops or go out in the middle of night and sleeps knowing someone is there if he wakes up and sleeps well. He enjoys his trips to the park, sometimes twice a day. He enjoys watching the tv and is calmer. Much better now he has attention and regular routine , shower and eating times.
Hello Debsdanant
