Thanks for reading my intro and replying. These types of forum are really important, a chance to find out new information and how people deal and cope with difficult situations.
The first tip I would give is what is happening here, share, share and share again, lived experience is the best resource for information.
Welcome Mazzamataz ! This is a really friendly and supportive forum, I hope you find it helpful and I'm sure as Shue says, you've got loads to share too Great to have you here. All the best, Fx
Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. It definitely looks like a great forum and opportunity to share vital information that could have positive impact on peoples lives. As I said in reply to Shue, lived experience is where you get vital information that could enhance and have positive impact for people.
Even in some of the closest teams I've worked in, the sharing of info and examples has always been difficult. There needs to be easier ways for people to share and find information as required, this forum is definitely one of those ways that's for sure.
Thanks. Looks a real useful resource, still trying to find my way around?
Yeah, technology is definitely an area that will see an increase over coming years, we just need to try and make sure its the right things for people of they will lose trust and stop using.
As part of my current role I have identified that there doesnt seem to be much emphasis placed on it yet, still hit and miss by areas? Practitioners are a little scared and apprehensive so isnt on the agenda? There does need to be some push, commitment and dare I say resource/funding to help promote with people.
Hi Sarah , my sons received an iPad from being nominated by his supported living providers. I’m meeting today to set up Makaton on the device to aid his everyday communication
My son has Apple Watch series 5 , it has fall detection on it , so will alert up to five care givers and emergency services automatically in case of an epileptic fit . With GPS location . Peace of mind when he wants to be more independent!
