Looking for a PA in Kent

Hello. I'm new here and I am on the look out for a PA for my 18 year old son who has ASD. Our last PA has now changed careers and can no longer be my son's PA. It's mainly after school care and holiday work. I've been struggling to find someone in the Kent (Maidstone) area and somewhere that advertises PA's. I've approached the school, but no luck. Seen We Are Beams PA list, but no luck, posted on Facebook - no luck either. Any advice would be appreciated? Thanks

Hello and welcome. It's an anxious time when trying to recruit a PA for a loved one. You want the best, a caring, trustworthy individual who provides the same level of care as you the parent do. Your local council Kent.gov.uk has a section on Pa's and you can register for re recruiting one. Many people now advertise on places such as

1. Indeed.co.uk

2. totaljobs.com

There is also skillsforcare.org.uk

You could also give the helpline a call, they will be more informed 0808 808 1111. Best of luck. Keep us updated.

Hi

Thanks for the advice. I’ve posted on Indeed and Ive had two applications, one I’m sure is not from the UK. But the other I will get in contact. I’ll take a look at the other Total Jobs. I’ve looked at Skills for care before, but couldn’t find anything useful in the way of available PA.

Thank you for the info. Been most helpful.

Regards

Graham.

Hello. What sort of hours are you looking for and how much do you pay per hour/day. I may be able to direct you when i have some background details.

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. Hours are from 4pm to 7 or 8pm. Anything from 2 to 4 days a week. It’s to cover the fact that my wife and I work, she works weekdays and I do work at weekends, so I get a day or two off during the week. I have the Direct Payment scheme in place which pays £7 per hour (take home) and have 4 hours a week reserved for that pavement scheme. The other hours above that is paid my myself and I have matched the DP - but that’s negotiable.

We are in Maidstone and can arrange school transport to drop off.

Hours during school holidays could be 9am until 7pm, but that might be only 1,2 maybe three times in a school holiday week.

Our son is 18 and tall, ASD but fairly easy to look after. He needs supervision mainly.

Hope that helps.

Thank you

Kind Regards

Graham.
