Sleeping problems

My young son (4) is a very bad sleeper. He sleeps his own room (in theory) but gets up very early every morning, usually before it gets light.

Does anyone have any ideas about how we can encourage him to stay there!

Once he gets up, he tries to come into our room, but he never settles again.

We are exhausted.

Thanks

Hi. this might sound silly but have you tried a heavy blanket? We have a specially weighted one and it helped. I guess the pressure really feels good.

We also found these helpful - cerebra.org.uk/help-and-inf...

There probably isn't a simple solution, and you may just need to come up with coping mechanisms. Perhaps you and your partner can take turns to sleep - and make sure you sleep whenever you can.

Best of luck

Hi. You might also find this helpful: autism.org.uk/about/health/... - as well as the standard general ('sleep hygiene') tips, it may help you rule out any possible physical causes (such as problems with digestion or melatonin - particularly if the sleep difficulties have been going on for some time).

Hope this helps - I feel for you.

My daughter was the same, the spring and early summer months were the worst due to bird song etc. We installed back out blinds which helped with the early light at this time of the year. Also a clock which had rabbit ears, whilst the ears where down that was sleepy time and when they were up you could get up. I do not remember the make though

Yes, we had of these clocks too. They are brilliant. I think they are called bunny sleep trainer clocks. 🐰

Quick update. We are doing slightly better (although the hot weather didn't help). We got one of those clocks and he loves it. We doesn't always do what the bunny says, but he does check it.

Still tired, but coping.
