My husband has melanoma and is currently on immunotherapy. It was recommended that he get a flu shot but I read it could cause some adverse effects. Does anyone have some information on this or has had a flu shot while on immunotherapy? Thanks so much.

Any specific medical guidance should be in collaboration with your husband's treating oncologist.
That being said, here is a 2021 systematic review of cancer treatment, including for melanoma, in patients receiving immunotherapy. Short answer, get the flu vaccine:
I also made sure to get flu/ covid/ other vaccines for myself so I didn't put my husband at increased risk. You may wish to consider similar in consultation with your general practitioner.
Just regarding my husband, his 1st time on immunotherapy he was given the flu vaccine by his oncologist, and he had no adverse reactions. This 2nd time on immunotherapy they advised he get the flu vaccine, and he has, again no adverse reactions. I would definitely see what your oncologist advises for your husband. I also make sure I am up on all my vaccines to protect my husband.
Thank you SGHSwrethearts for your reply. Glad to hear your husband had no adverse reactions. My husband’s oncologist oncologist said he should get it, so we both got our shots today. Thank you again and many good wishes.
