Pardon the pun, but I thought this was cool research newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/...
There are 2 opportunities in the DC area coming up and I plan to attend them both. I have attended the MRA event last year, and they do others structured like this at other major cities in the US.
1. This one is soon, Feb. 26 1-6. This patient education day is free and includes a networking lunch to start and a cocktail hour at the end where patient participants can mingle with researchers who are meeting to review grant money applications right next door. Wayne and I found this a wonderful day last year.

2. Melanoma Research Foundation Hill Advocacy Conference March 8-10 in DC
This is an opportunity to gather with melanoma patients and care givers from across the US and be trained in how to take your personal story and turn it into an effective conversation with your congressional, state, and local officials to advocate for melanoma research and treatment policy and funding. They on March 10 you'll visit your Senate and House representatives with others from your state for appointments MRF will set for you in advance. Wayne and I have done this for several years. Cost is $20 and there are some travel scholarships available.1.
