Opdivo Toxicity
My husband had his first infusion Thursday and so far he just feels a little tired.
My son was in a trial with Opdivo and Ketruda, and while it was working great on shrinking the tumors, the toxicity of the 2 caused high liver levels and he had to be pulled from the trial.
My mom starts this therapy next week. From our research and talking to her doctors it seems like this is her best chance at defeating the tumors but we know it can have significant side effects and doesn't work for all. There don't seem to be many ways to identify if it will work for her or if it will have side effects without trying it. Good luck to you whatever your decision is.
My son did a trial, he is currently NED. Side effects for him weakness(tired), nausea, and fever, these lasted a few days after the first dose. Symptoms lessened as he continued. AF were loss of thyroid function and diabetes. There were 52 participants in the study, 2 had no response and 2 had tumors return, one is being retreated.

Where was this trial done? Are the results published yet? Sounds very promising. So good that it worked for your son.
My husband is getting either just Nivo, or Nivo plus Ipi, depending on which trial arm he’s on. He’s recently had some stomach issues that are not debilitating, just uncomfortable, but by and large is doing fine. There are hundreds of posts you can read on the Melanoma Foundation forum. melanoma.org and go to the support tab to MPIP.
Side effects from immunotherapy are from the immune system getting activated, sometimes “super charged,” which is different than the toxicity from chemotherapy.
