Hi first time post on here I was involved in a car crash 11 weeks ago it was only a light crash did not bang my head. Been to the hospital doctors audiologist. My symptoms are I have headaches. ringing and clicking in ears. dizziness I’m constantly tired the doctors are saying Its PCS post concussion syndrome.

Sometimes though I do have a fast heartbeat and just feel worn out. No energy.

Just wondering if it is PCS or ME. I’ve had a brain scan and bloods done. They both came back clear. Been given medications by the doctor but they’re just not doing anything. Just don’t seem to be getting any wear. I’m usually very fit and active. Just don’t no what’s going on

Hi LewisThomas I've got ME & tinnitus. The tinnitus came later . Given that your symptoms started after the crash it may be that it's PCS but you never know. It might be hard to prove either way. Can I ask what meds the doctor has given you?

Hi yes

Paracetamol ibuprofen didn’t work

Prochlorperazine

Betahistine dihydrochloride 16 mg

From what you have written I don’t see how this would be ME/CFS. Usually ME occurs following a viral infection and wouldn’t be triggered through an accident. Suggest you go back to gp and discuss fact your meds are not doing anything. There may well be different medications that gp can prescribe. Or referral to some form of specialist. 11 weeks feels like a long time to be struggling after as you describe, a minor traffic accident.

Hi, I did bang my head quite severely a couple of months ago. The concussion came the next morning, it was horrible. Headache, couldn't see properly, severe fatigue, when I thought I was better a few days later it was as though I had dementia, couldn't get words out and completely lost words. It took 3 weeks to recover. I'd be taking myself to a cranial osteopath.

I'm sure this doesn't help you at all, just saying concussion can be really strange. I do have CFS though & seriously pace myself. P

I have a friend who developed ME / CFS after a severe car crash. Hard to tell from what you have written. One of the classic symptoms is post-exertional fatigue which can happen 48 hours after the exerise. You could take a look at the ME Association web site about getting a diagnosis or one of the other ME charities. They also have a helpline ~

I have had PCS about 6 yrs ago and couldn't figure out what was going on. Neurologist perscribed me Nortriptyline and it worked like night and day for my PCS. Have had another incident 3 yrs ago with same feelings as PCS but my med for that is not helping now so I'm not sure what is going on with me now. But Nortriptyline helped me the 1st time
