VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOUR OWN PRIVACY TO BE AWARE:-

Health Unlocked have recently updated their website.

Now, when you write a post you will notice that there is an 'EVERYONE' button which is ALREADY SELECTED. And below it is another button marked 'COMMUNITY' which is UNSELECTED.

What you MUST be aware of:

If you leave the 'EVERYONE' button selected - which it is as DEFAULT - then your post will be available for OTHERS TO FIND VIA FACEBOOK OR TWITTER.

If you DO NOT want your post to be visible on your Facebook page or Twitter timeline, then you MUST SELECT 'COMMUNITY' INSTEAD OF 'Everyone' ('Everyone' is the default) EVERY TIME you go to write a new post).

I am aware that a significant number of people would not want their health unlocked posts to be readily visible on their Facebook page or Twitter feed.

If this applies to you, then PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS DESELECT 'Everyone' and SELECT 'COMMUNITY' INSTEAD EVERYTIME YOU WRITE A NEW POST!!

Unfortunately this is outside of my control as it's part of the Health Unlocked site but it's important to be aware of.

If you select 'Community' EVERY TIME YOU POST, THEN your post will ONLY be available to people who are signed up to Health Unlocked and following this community, so your posts will be much more secure among people who understand your condition and not open to unwelcome eyes linked to your Facebook or Twitter.

If you are worried that you might forget to select 'Community' instead of 'Everyone' sometimes when you write a post, then my advice to you would be to consider signing up to Health Unlocked - re-registering if necessary - under a different email address and name than you use for Facebook or Twitter.

This way - if it's important to you that there's no risk of your friends and family, friends of friends etc seeing your posts about your health condition that you've written on Health Unlocked, as I understand a significant number of people write things to others who understand the condition and understand what they're going through that they would not say to other people who may not understand or judge or who you'd not feel comfortable saying things about your condition to, and you'd rather people on your Facebook or Twitter didn't hear what you say on Health Unlocked related to your health - if you set up an anonymous account with Health Unlocked, or at least register with Health Unlocked using a separate email address and username than the one you use for Facebook or Twitter, then you will not have to worry!!!

That's what I'd advise people to do if you want 100% security that people from your own Facebook page or your Twitter won't see anything you write on Health Unlocked.

One last point to be aware of - posts on Health Ublocked can be found via Google Searches/other search engines.

So again, if you don't want to be personally identified - as applies to all Internet chat rooms and message boards - then I advise you to not sign up with your full real name. Maybe just your first name would be fine, or you could make up any name you like!

A lot of people tend to set up their account with a made up name, and then once they get to know people on the Health Unlocked forum they sometimes sign their first name below their post. BUT you don't have to do that - many people just use their made up name all the time!

I wanted to make sure that everyone understands this very clearly as I think it's only fair that everyone should be fully informed so they can safeguard their own privacy.

I wouldn't have set the default position to 'Everyone' if I ran the Health Unlocked site, but I don't! :/ But we can get round it at least!!! :)

And remember, that's just the boring formalities!

What we are here for is to connect with others who understand, provide chat, friendship, understanding and mutual support!!! :-)

I look forward to chatting with you and helping connect people who understand!

Cheers,

Starbys :-)
