Oh no!!! I know that feeling 🙈 Will you wait for it to charge?

Argh. Hate it when that happens. Sometimes I’m getting out of the door 2 hours late by the time I’ve charged my phone, watch and headphones! And then I need a gel 10 minutes in because it’s so long since breakfast.

Of course, I’m interpreting this as dead = flat battery not dead = no more. Hope that your Garmin just needs a bit of a charge.

Thankfully just no charge (,,,although ooh new Garmin shopping head got a wee bit excited!). Put it on to charge but seemed to be taking forever. In the end I just went with a wrist watch with Strava on in my running belt. Strange experience not being able to see my pace and guessing distance from experience but running to a time goal rather than distance was fun. 2hrs 10 and 18.2 strava kms. 6 weeks until Royal Parks HM. I'm on track.

Haha - the “ooh maybe it’s broken and I can go shopping”. I know that one 😂

Sounds like a great run. Congratulations on hitting your target. I think Strava kilometres are the same as standard ones 😉

I like to think they're longer than Garmin ones 😉 Garmin has now fully charged (perhaps I need a new one just in case)

The one and only time I've ever been bothered about my Garmin failing to charge was when it did so on the morning of the Trail du Gévaudan.

Otherwise I'd just leave it at home, which I frequently do anyway!

That's a very refreshing attitude. I envy that rather than mine which is if it's not recorded it doesn't count.

That's why I started leaving my watch at home. I'd get in having enjoyed a run, then feel crushed because Garmin docked me a VO2Max point, or because my pace was a fraction slower.

If I'm not wearing my Garmin I quite often record on Strava so that I have somewhere to post photos. But I also choose not to record all my runs. The first time I actively decided not to record I felt quite panicky, which confirmed that not recording was the right decision for me. It hasn't stopped me from running, and it's certainly liberating - no guilt about wasting time by stopping to talk to people, taking photos, eating blackberries, exploring newly-created paths created by the loggers, etc.

That reminds me, I've been recording way too much recently. I need to get out there and do more tech-free runs!
