Tasha99 and I ran the Brass Monkey HM this morning.
After unsuccessfully trying to enter this race (it sells out in under an hour) we were lucky to get two last minute transfers from friends who were unable to attend.
This race marks the start of our Manchester Marathon training and although we weren't chasing a PB, we hoped to get in under 2 hours 15.
We paced ourselves really well throughout and had enough for a strong finish in the last 2 miles. We finished at 2 hours 14. A fantastic day and race.
The marshals and volunteers were outstanding.

Congratulations to you GTFC and Tasha99 on completing the Brass Monkey HM in a time of 2 hours 14 minutes, well done and what a lovely photo of both of you with your well deserved medals, good luck for training for the Manchester marathon later in the year.
Hmm, hmm, after my 12K Sunday morning walk this morning I got a sore stomach for most of the afternoon, I drank something for breakfast that didn't agree with me and for the first time in more than 20 years I was violently sick around 4.30pm, I went to bed for two hours at 5pm, got up at 7pm and once again with a sore stomach was sick again, however, I no longer have a sore stomach and feeling much better, I am now sipping a Lemsip while watching the final of snooker on television, hopefully I won't be sick again, tummy no longer sore.
It looks weather wise that my midweek 5K run on Wednesday could be 25 times* around a disused football pitch only a 3 minutes walk from where I live, the temperature this morning at my local weather station was - 2.4C and it's not expected to get warmer before Friday, when the weather is like that it's a bit risky running on paths, if the paths are well salted on Wednesday I will try and run a few K's on them saving me the monotony of running 25 times around the football pitch.
Best of luck for the Manchester Marathon! Was it Brass Monkeys weather out there today? π€£
PS. If you two happen to be in the Greater Manchester area again doing a parkrun, do let me know. It would be great to have a chat after over a coffee/tea afterwards.
Of the regulars on the forum I've only met TailChaser and KatNap so far (and they were in a rush to travel home afterwards and where we ran didn't have an obvious cafe). Oldfloss has sworn off doing Pwllheli parkrun, and even though Birdlady64 has been within 5 miles of me in NW Wales a few times, we haven't had the chance to meet up.
[Thinks...] Maybe we (as a forum) should organise having a meet up at Lyme Park parkrun again. I missed out on that the last time it happened.
We are in nowster and would love a meet up. We've met Sir AlMorr Beachcomber66 Katnap SkiMonday but would be up for meeting others too. The weather was 5Β°c with little wind and when the sun came out it felt warm. It is a brilliant event π
There's a possibility we may be going on holiday in the Northumberland area again this summer, maybe staying again in the Alnwick area. (Visiting the area for a week in the middle of a wet November did not show it off at its best.)
I run at Druridge Bay PR it's fantastic. The Pastures in Alnwick is a bit of a challenge though! Hope you come back, winters here can be cold and windy but the empty beaches make up for it!
I ran the lower part of The Pastures three times in November, on a route that started by going under the A1 to meet the river, then running upstream on the north bank towards the bridge below the castle. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go to the parkrun on the Saturday morning (we needed to be out of the holiday let by 10am).
Amazing run GTFC and Tasha99 You run together brilliantly π π πͺ A great time and a perfect start to your Manchester Marathon training. Well done!
Fantastic going! Well done to both of you and great prep for Manchester. I must admit that when I first saw your picture I thought Jeez, that's a HUGE medal π€£π€£π€£
Congratulations to you both. Thatβs a great time and a perfect start to your Manchester Marathon training, which I have no doubt you will smash πππ
