I will call it a run report as it does not feel like a race when you are on your own!

Well guys thanks, I am astounded by your support. Some will know I have had some issues recently and it has been over 2 months since I ran 10, having been up to 15 and training for a HM. Having been laid up I have gradually been trying to build distance with 7k last week being the current "long run". The Limassol 10k was an event that was cancelled earlier in the year and they decided a few weeks back to run it as a virtual event. It did not have to be today it could have been any time in the next couple of weeks but I threw caution to the wind and set a date. Yesterday we saw the first serious rains of the year and at 5am they were pounding on the roof. I like to get runs done early so I did think it may not go ahead. At first light the rain was coming down in stair rods, I got up anyway, put my running kit on to the astonished look from Mrs 34 and said 10am is the cut off.At 10am I got in the car and drove to my usual running area, the wind was pelting in off the sea still so I changed the route so it would be behind me on the coastal section. As it was all change I thought I would also do something different with my music and rather than my usual running mix went for one of my favourite live albums I knew I could get lost in. Partially as a nod to the cancelled gig next Sunday I had tickets for at the O2. Off I went. My plan, as I do with all my longs, was to get to the end so the method I use is to keep in Aerobic as much as possible and out of threshold. So with the odd toot from passing traffic and singing along merrily I trundled off. Carnage all over the place from passing tornadoes and the electric company repairing downed cables certainly made things a bit interesting to view. 5 passed no problem but at 7 sciatica kicked in, belt like someone had kicked me in the butt but I kept going and it largely eased, turned at the end at about 8k and it was the home straight from there. My legs were pretty done at the end and I have a bit of tendonitis in my foot but I was happy, chuffed and still singing at the end!

Thanks to all for their support, one in particular for the off forum chats, it has all been a great help.

I would like to finish by saying, WOW just WOW to Abi, Rose or Roseabi on here incredible run, inspired no end, thankyou for that and all the work you and the mods put in to make this a great place for old gits like me!

Ooh, so not quite the Limassol that we lockeddown Brits are dreaming of then? I'd definitely have waited for a dry day!!! Well done. Lots of gremlins beaten off in that run. Great job 👍👏👏👏

Well Done Jonno, it is strange doing virtual runs instead of real races but there’s always the lure of the bling to keep you going.

I wasn’t a runner when I lived on Cyprus but Limassol coast is at least fairly flat. Well done you.

I was not on the Limassol coast but shall we say a bit further North. I was booked to do this run in Limassol prior to lockdown.
