Good to hear from you Tbae that you at last can run and not keep cutting that darned hedge, that would be a lot of running you will have to do before you run a full marathon, I wish you all the best, 3/10Ks and a half marathon in a week would be amazing, good luck. 👍 🏃🏾
Thanks Tbae, I am feeling fine, this morning I ran a 5K around the same park, only 3 minutes away from home, that's the same place where I regularly take my neighbours dog a walk.
Aww thank you RP.,got to 31k on the last occasion,I need to make this happen this time.🏃♀️⭐️👏👏💪🙏💥
I really love this and I'll be behind you all the way. Your plan seems really good and if you can build up the miles safely and injury free then I'm sure you can get there 🎽 we'll all cheer you on 🥇
Speaking of racing - sort of - I am doing the virtual Great Grimsby with my niece. She sent me the details yesterday and invited me to run it with her (in person) as she’s not run that distance yet but is slowly building up to it It’s in October with tee shirts and medals. They’re having a real inflatable START balloon I understand. Awards given for best times etc I think Cleethorpes would be a good place to run it, or a trail near her home I was looking at the Wolds 10k route. Her choice though as she’s working around the kids. My husband has kindly volunteered to look after the kids, hold coats etc and drive us all should we decide a more remote location, and pay for the post-race fuddle 😋🍰☕️🍦.
I'm going to try and run it on October 4th. My highest is 17m so far but going for 20 on Friday if I can. I'll go slowly and hopefully it'll be enough 😬
I think you will surprise yourself GTFC.I think you will just ✅ off the HM.Your 17km is good preparation.Of course if you wish to stick with and respect the 10%,that’s good also. I remember my first solo HM around 6 months after completing C25k,I got to 15km preparation and next run just went for it.Of course I am just a trotter and time becomes a factor. For me it’s more an exercise of building time when you consider 5km / hr.🐌😁😂
Thank you, I meant a full Marathon. I've run lots of HM's now and over the last month ran a 15 mile two weeks ago, a 17 mile last week and hopefully 20 mile Friday all being well 😁 I also love a steady and slow pace running that long.
It’s funny GTFC,I remember 60+ years ago going metric and we are all stuck in imperial system measurements including me.Yes you did say m for miles.Atb with everything and your 20 miler. Was looking at simple inspirational quotes for Marathon, liked if I recall correctly, first third with your head, pacing 🤔,2nd third with your legs, strength🤔,final third with your heart.achievement/ambition 🤔.
My actual marathon is cancelled but I feel obliged to complete the training. Daft probably, but there we are
Dog sitting put paid to last week’s long run so I’m playing catch-up. I’ve got my niece’s dog from tomorrow for the week 🙄. I’ve got an 18.5k run to do but don’t like leaving him at home for very long. It’s an incentive to hurry up I suppose 😃🌪🏃♀️
Having said that, I’m below par. I was fine yesterday. Did my run, got a bit of tidying up done in the veg plot and greenhouses. Did a roast dinner with all the works. After that my husband and I went a walk for over an hour It was after that I began to feel proper rubbish. Couldn’t sleep and felt lousy this morning. I’ve got a 10k pencilled in too.
I’ve just eaten something so going to wait an hour and see how I feel 😤
Have a good day whether you’re running or gardening 😃👍
Sorry to hear that MW and wishing you speedy change of situation.Poor sleep MW and I am finished. You have a lot on your plate and are always so kind and generous.Thats one good thing about being ancient like me MW,can’t really help anymore so not much point offering.🙈😱😂
Try and maintain body flexibility through daily stretching and don't forget about proper hydration. Slow pacing marathon shouldn't put too much strain on your cardio but it can drain energy from your legs, especially knees. Build up to it sensibly and don't push it. Experiment with run/walk method by Jeff Galloway. Listen to all signals that your body will inevitable send you during your training, and ignore none. Very best of luck, you can do this!
I was mid HM and struggling in Cyprus with the heat. I then stubbed my toe, just that, simple stub on a bit of plastic furniture. Swelled up painful, not sure if it was break/joint/nerve damage. 4 weeks off, back with 3 x 5, last week 3 x 6, this week 3x7 is the plan then pick a restart point in the HM plan or build my own.
Sorry to hear that Jonno.Hope everything is repaired and no further trouble.Your choice Jonno, but if I were a much younger I would be following a plan and going for plenty variety. This forum carries a wealth of experience and knowledge.I have just chosen to muddle along for simplicity and because it’s my once in a lifetime attempt at a trotting marathon.
Yes sorry, you did say that.Thats fantastic, your doing all the proper stuff.Atb with everything.Need to catch up with your journey.Out of interest how old is a spring chicken.🤔⭐️👏👏
Certainly one thing I have learned on this amazing forum and from its contributions that there are many myths to be dispelled. You do not / need not lose acceleration or sprinting speed with age, eg., not withstanding the obvious of course.
