Are you running an event this March? Would you like to be included in the weekly POM POM post so we can give you a BIG CHEER?
As you may already know, we put up a new post each month to log everyone's events (there's a separate one for February - link at the bottom of this post).
So, if you've entered a race this March (it doesn't have to be a marathon - any event, any distance) make a note in the comments below so we can cheer you on.
Please tell us the name of the event, the date and give us a link to the event website if available, and we'll add you to the weekly pom-pom cheer !!!!!
I've started you off there with a wee 5k! They moved the Supernova run from November to March, which I wasn't very happy about as I'm not sure it will be sufficiently dark, but hey ho I guess they have their reasons... Anyway, said I wan't going to do it in a huff, but somehow signed up anyway.
I spent ages trying to find an appropriate meme or picture, and settled on Superman crossing the finish line at Kalamazoo, because it says everything it needs to I think 🤣
Me too. It will be sufficiently dark. Sunset will be at 6.30 and civil twilight when street lights are compulsory is 7.09. It will be similar to the 5pm Sunday one in November which was fine. I was miffed as they initially put the Sunday one off as it won’t be dark at 5; then put it on again due to demand rebranding it as ‘dusk’; then switched it to 7 pm so it will be dark. I would have entered in the Sunday had they announced that from the outset but now I’m committed to the Saturday and friends are relying on me for transport.
Omg I just realised that my Weston Super Half is on the 29th March... how I forgot that I have no idea! Due to training for my trail 20 I haven’t been following a HM plan.
I am so unfit at the moment I don’t think I would make it round but also I have plans that weekend which is a shame. I am booked to do 15k there at the beginning of September before the GSR in October.
Perhaps we could do it together then. That would be fun and you could sign up for the GSR as your next goal?
Definitely do, lots of other VRB’s do it I believe. I know it’s a bit of a journey for you but it seems like a really popular run.
I have also signed up for the Lymington 10k on 10 May. I’m managing to find all her flat runs 😀. My cousin has done it a few times and says it’s a really nice one.
I’m loving the Garmin thanks apart from Sunday when it died after finding GPS because I had forgotten to charge it.m!!! Luckily I could use map my run bit it was annoying.
I'm doing the Bedgebury Forest Spring 10k on 22 March. This will be my first trail run. I hope the nice scenery will help make the undulating miles fly by.
Kelpies Supernova 5k now postponed to November. I think they were glad of the excuse TBH. They got grief for moving it to March in the first place and the email came out only three hours after FMQs with new dates already in place.
Unfortunately, our city has now canceled all marathons due to the quarantine. In our city there are a lot of sports marathons and I visit almost each of them. By the way, I want to say that at sports marathons, the importance of sound is often underestimated, although this is a very important part. Once I was at a marathon where the sound and music were so cool that I got a second breath when I ran. It was very cool. So for the future, I want to recommend to all organizers of marathons to choose a good company that will do a quality sound, for example like this one -truesoundhire.co.uk/
