Paul! No-one is suggesting you rest - but you need to take a break from running. It's far better to take a couple of weeks off now than risk being injured in April and either missing your race, or having a horrible one. I had a calf problem in 2018 just before the Brighton Marathon - with three weeks to go I couldn't run. I swam, cycled, and worked on my strength, but I didn't run until the day of the race. I kept fit and managed to get round the marathon.
You have much more time than I did, and you have already proved you can run for 20 miles! So don't rest, keep yourself moving in any way that doesn't cause pain. Pool running, cycling, walking, and whatever strength work you can manage will help prepare you to start running again strongly once the leg feels better.
But you should really find out what the problem actually is and get some professional help with it. If you can get an appointment with a GP that is a good start, as they may be able to tell what is wrong, or at least refer you to a specialist. And if you can, go to a decent sports physiotherapist - if money is a problem make it clear that you want an assessment and some advice, in a one-off appointment.
Youβll do wonderfully in your marathon Paul. You never fail to amaze me with your steely determination. πͺπ
But you need to be kind to your body first otherwise you might risk long term injury - imagine how that would make you feel? π© Youβve put plenty of miles into your legs - you just did 20 miles didnβt you? Back off a little, get totally fit again, then smash that 26 miler in true Paul style! ππͺπ πππ
