Well the course is quite flat but oh boy I wasn't liking that heat, from word go it was hot and at it's peak it hit 29 and was so strength sapping.
The start was fine all walking forward untill suddenly you're crossing the start line and away we went, the 1st mile or so was for me quite fast but within my capabilities and at this point the amount of bodies around me started to thin out and I was able to settle into a steadier pace.
The heat was not good and I was already sweating well but felt ok at my slower pace but was happy to see that 1st drinks station and onwards I went.
At 9.5 miles both my calves cramped up with the right one being worst and they just didn't want to stretch out but there was no way I wasn't going through that finish line.
I poddled on with a very slow pace but kept going but miles 11 and 12 were really tough as my calves were really giving me some and I had to take a few short walk breaks through these 2 miles but hit the 13 marker and just dug in and ran and the next thing a marshall was telling me 400mts to go they were lying lol but it did spare me on.
As I came around the end of the stadium I could see my daughters, grandkids and friends who'd all turned out to support me and as they saw me they were all screaming and yelling (thumbs up photo).
I looked in front ant the finish line was about 100mts and I don't know where I found it but I set off at a "sprint" and as I got closer I could see my wife just over the finish line and bless her tears running down her face.
BOOM 11 months after starting c25k I completed my 1st half marathon
