Are there any special tints available for ... - Macular Society
Are there any special tints available for my spectacles to help me see better in bright light?. would the eye hospital supply this.
Hi Dinks,
Yes, special tints are available; they can be either as prescription lenses, or wraparound overshlelds which go over your existing specs.
Please have a look at our leaflet, 'Protecting your Eyes' at the follwing link;

The eye hospital are unlikely to be able to supply these, but your optician or specialist suppliers of low vision equipment such as the RNIB, Optima Low Vision or SW Retail can supply them.
Please call our helpline 030 30 30 111 if you want more information.

I use wrap around red tinted glasses when the sun is too bright which i got from the low vision clinic at my hospital. I have them because i have cateracts and I find the glare too much at times. Could you get an appointment at your low vision clinic?
Hi Dinks
I also have problems with glare, my optician said they could obtain speacalist prescription lenses but they would be expensive. I have also gone for the wrap around tinted glasses which fit over my varifocals, they are antiglare and blue blocking. Mine are Coccoons and I obtained them from Vision Enhancers.They were very helpful when I phoned them for advise and unlike the R.N.I.B. will accept returns if they do not fit. All the best.
Thats very useful, with the link (although maybe expensive). I bought a pair of polaroid clip-ons for £6 at branch of Vision Express ... much more everywhere else! So cheap I bought a second pair to keep in the car. They are only lens-size clip-ons, but very helpful in my first foray into devices that help.
