Should I stop taking Pantoprazole ?

Hi I suffer from GERD, Have been taking this drug 5 months now.. past few weeks I have begun to feel quite unwell. Stomach pain, Nausea. muscle pain and twitches .. should I just stop taking it or go back to my doctor ..... Thank You

Hello Alanis70,

Never just stop with medication. Go back to your doctor and explain how terrible you feel.

How can the doctor help without knowing your situation?

And if you do not get relief from explaining your reactions to this medication, by all means, change doctors. You owe it to yourself to take care of yourself by finding doctors who can help you.

Thanks for the advice Getwell89, It's common sense I suppose..... Has anyone else has bad affects from taking Protonix ?

Hello Alanis70. I can fully understand your concern as I have just written a post (4ptimistic) about my concern as I take 80gm perday for the past year and still having problems. You dont mention the dose you are on?

I agree with previous post that you have to bring your condition to the attention of your GP. Unfortunately my GP doesn't seem to know much about acid reflux and reluctant to go against the wishes of the consultant. Its a worry! But write down all your concerms and go to your GP - or if necessary you mnay have to change doctors. Either way its up to us ti be pro-active. Lots of good wishes.
