Recently diagnosed with wet macular disease in left eye.had 3 injections so far.is it worth trying macroshield ?.I have been taking lutein and other supplements from Holland and barret.unfortunately macushield is expensive .what is the general opinion on this?.

Sorry to learn about your wet macular degeneration.
Supplements are really only effective for those people with dry macular degeneration.

There are two types of Macushield; basic 'Macushield' and 'Macushield Gold' which is superior as its contents are those recommended by the 'AREDS2' trial (see booklet for more details).
If you have dry macular degeneration in your other eye, then it may well be worth taking a supplement. There are cheaper alternatives available from pharmacists and supermarkets, but they do not all contain the recommended AREDS2 contents.
