Hi all I thought I would update you all on my trip to parliament to speak at the round table meeting with dinner in the House of Commons. There were 15 people present. Representives from NHS England, 5 MPs including Marsha de Cordova, Jim Shannon and Ed Argar and CATHY YELF the CEO Macular Society and a rep from Diabetes U.K. I spoke for 5 minutes about diabetes and sight loss and the difficulty of coping with diabetes when sight loss is present. I was shocked to find out prior to this meeting that their is there IS ‘NICE’ guidance for AMD, glaucoma and cateract ( surgery) but NO ‘NICE’ guidance for diabetic eye disease. I am hoping this will change soon.
