Hi Michaela

It must be a worry - sounds like you could have early macular degeneration but drusen don't always lead to vision loss. You can talk it all through with our helpline which is open again on Tuesday at 9am. Try not to worry - call them for a chat 0300 3030 111

Hello Michaela

I do hope you call us today and we can have a chat about your diagnosis.

I think you should discuss with your eye specialist the possibility of taking a vitamin supplement for eyes and diet generally. It is also important to protect your eyes from the glare in daylight. We can discuss this with you when you call us.

We look forward to hearing from you on our Helpline 0300 3030 111.

Hi Michaela

I received this news too back in 2010 and was shocked at how little support I was given at the hospital, especially as this was a leading eye hospital. I was only 39 at the time and the news felt devastating. Three years on my eyes are slowly getting worse but its manageable and I've eventually started to get my head around it all. It can be very lonely as you don't come across many people in the same position as you so don't be afraid to ask for help. Happy to chat more if it helps.
