I'm still trying. I had to appeal. Has anyone else had to appeal to get DLA?

Yes I had to appeal and I was eventually given the lowest care level but nothing for mobility. It was a horrible ordeal and the doctor on the panel didn't even know about Lupus! Make sure you seek help from a solicitor if you can. Good Luck! x

An American, I assume you mean something like "disability?" I took one year ( after turning 50 as a widow) and finally got needed disability status.

DLA has now been replaced by Personal Independence Payments (PIP). Both of these benefits are not means tested and so can be claimed even if in full time work. They are to assist people who have difficulty with mobility or self-care as a result of their disability/condition.
