I have been diagnosed with lung cancer. The cancer is pretty large and very near the main arterey to the brain Possibly intruding into the artery. I am having an exploratory operation to see exactly where the cancer is. This is on the 27th. Hopefully they will say its not attached and will be able to have major surgery. The surgeon has said if surgery is the answer he will remove the whole of my right lung. Has anyone had this done or similar. thanks.

Hi,
I had all my left lung removed two and a half years ago, being told now I am clear of all cancer, but still having six month check ups.

Thanks for the reply petegl, At least that encourages me. I am sure you felt anxious before your op. But at least its really good news you are all clear. take care.
Hi Jillygirl,
I haven't had my lung removed as I wasn't suitable! But I would like to say to you to stay positive, be strong. And all our thoughts are with you.
Take care and God Bless x
Hi Jilligirl,
Best wishes for the 27th,I will be thinking about you, nearly four years ago I underwent surgery to have my right lung removed, however in waking up from the surgery,my surgeon told me he had found it only necessary to remove my upper right lobe.I have since, received no further treatments, other than the required six monthly check ups.I have been restored both mentally and physically to full health, enjoying life to the full.I do wish the same for you.
Hi Jillygirl
My dad was diagnosed with stage 2 nsclc in June this year. The tumour was 7cm x 4 cm in the right lung and he had an exploratory operation in July. The cancer had spread to one lymph node in the chest but not into the pleural lining and the surgeon went on to take the right upper lobe and 3 lymph nodes. The care was excellent, my dad was home after 3 days and recovered really well from the surgery. He is having chemotherapy now to 'mop up' any stray cells and to help prevent regrowth. Though the chemo is tough now at the fourth cycle we are so grateful for the positive outcome so far. And knowing other people have gone through this and come out the other side has been really reassuring for us. Keep positive and I really hope all goes well for you. Best wishes.
Thank you , it is reassuring to know others are or have been in similar situations. Best wishes to your dad . and thank you again.
