Good afternoon all. I have been on Denosunab for over 2 years. Until 4 months ago I was having it on a monthly basis, I changed, with the input of my oncologist to every other month. However, for the past 2 weeks I have had pain in my elbow and down my arm. My oncologist says to give it another 2 months in order to ascertain whether it is the Denosunab. But in the meantime it’s affecting my lifestyle as when I lift weights, which I always do, it’s painful and I am having to lower the weight. Has anyone had a similar problem with Denosunab? Or any suggestions would be helpful.

DENOSUNAB
Hi Gymbuddie
Sorry to hear you are having pain in your elbow and arm. Denosumab can cause arm and leg pain, so it is possible this could be a side effect and it is best to be guided by your oncologist. You may wish to consider not doing any exercise or weight lifting that may exacerbate your arm and rest the muscle and joint to see if this improves.
For any muscle or joint pain, it often responds well to ice if there is pain or swelling if it has been an injury or a heat pack for more chronic pain, along with the use of pain killers that your doctor or pharmacist has advised you on to take.
If you find the pain is getting worse or with reduced mobility in the arm, do let your oncology team know.
I hope you hear from others in the forum and you are welcome to contact ask the nurse if you would like to discuss anything: our free phone number is 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600, alternatively you can email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org
