Hi Mauver

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. My diagnosis is not the same as yours, but I have some of the same cancers like you. I have stage iv lung cancer (alk positive NSCLC) with mets to my brain, spine, bones and liver. I was diagnosed in March 2022 and at the time you could have knocked me down with a feather as it was a shock to say the least. Totally unexpected. However, the treatment I take is 1 tablet per day, Brigatinib and an infusion of Denosunab for my bones once per month. I am still working and doing aerobic classes, weight training and walking each week. What has kept me going is that I feel fine within myself which has helped me with the diagnosis. Although I still have my bad days. It is an uphill struggle with ups and downs, regrettably. Talking helps if your have a someone to talk to. There are a lot of different treatments on the markets and I wish you all the best and the strength to keep going through your journey.

Hello Mauver,

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis, it can make you feel quite isolated, and totally understandable that it can be difficult to stay positive, however, there have been many advancements in the treatment of lung cancer such as immunotherapy, targeted therapies and new approaches to radiotherapy, this has all greatly improved outcomes of many patients, if you look back at previous posts you will see how well some have responded to these treatments. If you are looking anything up online, we would advise you to use websites that provide accurate and up to date information such as roycastle.org, cancerresearchuk.org or macmillan.org.uk

We have many booklets covering all the main types of treatment, from diagnosis, treatments and living with lung cancer, these can be found through this link: roycastle.org/help-and-supp...

We have a range of support services, from one to one support to online support groups through zoom , if you are interested in any of these you can register through this link: roycastle.org/help-and-supp...

The forum is a great place to find support and encouragement from those who are living with lung cancer. Our campaign section provides encouraging accounts from those living with lung cancer: roycastle.org/campaigns/

The Maggie’s centres are a great place to have a cuppa and a chat, they provide practical, financial and emotional support, most of the sites are based within cancer care hospitals and you find information on this through this link: maggies.org/

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss anything, you can email ask the nurse at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600

Hi there, my husband was diagnosed back in February as stage 4 NSCLC stage 3b. His lung cancer was under control for the last 3 years but advanced due to several reasons. They gave him 4 - 6 months without treatment and a year to two years with chemo and immunotherapy. It has been 7 months with no treatment and he is stable. The reason why we have done no treatments is because his heart is to weak for chemo. A present from the covid 19 vaccine. The rib gives him some pain every now and then. It is active and has grown from 2.4 cm to 2.7 cm. We have gone to mostly a vegan diet and lots of supplements and vitamin IV therapy. We also go for walks everyday, weather permitting. We also bought a rife machine to help when breathing becomes an issue and to fight cancer and to cleanse the blood and detox. So far the oncologist finds him to be quite remarkable to be doing so well. He lost a lot of weight past November and this has been challenging to put the weight back on, plus he is very fussy and does not like the vegan diet. Whatever we've been doing so far has been helping . Don't give up there are ways to heal the body and I believe it can be done through natural means. In Canada THC and CBD oil are legal. He takes THC at night to help sleep and CBD during the day just for his anxiety. This has helped his mood tremendously. Hopefully some of this may help and put you at ease. I wish you all the best.
