Support for my dad

NatashaSimmonds1975 profile image

My dad has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. He has bee started on Pembro and really struggling physically and emotionally.

Is there any opportunity to link him with another patient who is further along with their treatment and starting to feel better?

I think he could benefit greatly from talking to another patient who really understands where he,s at right now...

Thanks in advance

hi NatashaSimmonds1975 really sorry to hear your dad has lung cancer, I was on pemexetred and carboplatin so possibly a different type to mine, but I was stage 4 non small cell lung cancer and given a year to live, almost a year ago, I never believed I was ill so never accepted that I would die from this, I went vegan a year ago and 5 months later my cancer was dormant and has been ever since, I ran a 10k in July, very slowly, swam a mile in swim serpentine last month, and walked regularly 9 miles or so, believe 100% you will beat it, go vegan and take cbd oil and whatever the treatment the doctor says and you'll have the best chance of beating it. I have no reason to think it will come back but if it does then I'm ready to deal with it and ready to fight again. I wish you both all the best with this and all your family take care and never give up the power of the mind is unbelievable you can beat it 😊👍❤

Hello Natasha I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s diagnosis. I am stage IV NSCLC, mets to brain and adrenal. I recently submitted a very positive 1 year update please get your dad to read it as it may help him to see that there can be a future living with cancer - my prognosis was extremely poor but am doing really well. Positive thoughts and best of luck to you all x

Hi Natasha, so sorry to hear about ur Dad.

I started Prem on 27th Aug. Doc told me I should start to feel better after 4 weeks. Didn't happen due to other stuff going on but I definitely felt better since last week so maybe give it 6 weeks?

My main symptom at mo is tiredness. I try not to give in too it but am learning I have to, however I do force myself to take a little walk every day no matter how much I don't want to, and it really helps.

Happy to link with him whichever way suits him best. Does he do email?
